Wine of The Day: 2012 Malamado (Unloved) Malbec Port Style, Mendoza
This Malbec comes from a traditional family of producers from Maipu in Mendoza, the Zuccardis. Grapes are handpicked, wine is estate produced in a state-of-the-art facility, and they have thousands of acres of grapes. The Malamado has 24 months in French oak barrels. A red purple color of medium intensity, with light brown hues due to its ageing. Very seductive aromas of ripe plums, black fruits marmalade, dried figs and nuts. A rich, complex wine with final spicy notes like cinnamon, toasted almonds and leather. Sweet tannins, silky, full-bodied, pleasant. With long finish. A great after dinner wine.
