We Are At It Again! Partnering With Flamenco Vivo Carlota Santana 2017!
This Mother’s Day, make it extra special! Get her a bottle or two sparkling wines and bring her along to see a Flamenco show next Tuesday, May 16th! We are excited to partner again with Flamenco Vivo Carlota Santana for the 2017 Season opening night at the BAM Fisher Theather in Downtown Brooklyn. Flamenco Vivo Carlota Santana is a world-renowned cast of 14 dancers, singers and musicians from Spain and the US. The program features new works by a trio of distinctive voices in contemporary Spanish dance. El Pintor, choreographed by Antonio Hidalgo, recreates scenes from paintings by the early 20th-Century painter Julio Romero de Torres, known for his expressionistic depictions of women and flamenco. José Maldonado’s Pa’ Triana Voy offers a slice of life from Triana, the Seville barrio that was traditionally home to the city’s large Gypsy population. From Angel Muñoz, praised by The New York Times for his “spontaneity and invention and surprise,” there is Caminos, a bravura display of the individual personas of four outstanding male flamenco dancers.
Join us for a special First Night Fiesta immediately following the show on Tuesday, May 16th. Don’t miss your chance to meet the artists and enjoy food and wine from Addictive Boutique Winery and Despaña!
Presenting Mad Fish & Howard Park of Wester Australia Wines with Sue Henderson
Date: Wednesday, April 5th
Time: 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM
Free admission. Registration required. Please email us at email@example.com
The Madfish story begins in the far southern reaches of Western Australia where 9 miles from the quiet coastal town of Denmark is the picturesque Madfish Bay. The bay’s tranquillity is broken when two tides meet resulting in schools of small fish going mad…. jumping and racing “flat out like a lizard drinking” to avoid being gobbled up by hungry, larger fish.
The Madfish label, produced by Howard Park, offers pure, fresh and clean fruit driven wines that are often seen gracing the tables of cafés and at backyard barbeques from Broome to Rottnest Island on the coast of Western Australia. Its following is mirrored in Sydney and Melbourne where Madfish devotees are keen to share in a taste of the enviable lifestyle of the west coast.
Howard Park first released the Madfish label in 1992 with the Madfish White, soon followed by the Madfish Red in 1993. Today they produce a number of styles, namely the much-lauded Madfish Chardonnay and Shiraz. These contemporary styles are made from cool climate fruit with an emphasis on enjoyment and drinkability.
The traditional aboriginal water turtle design on the label is a symbol of perseverance and tolerance – no doubt characteristics displayed by the poor fish in Madfish Bay who are constantly under attack by their predators.
